This pair of boy’s Nike athletic pants was the first kid’s item I purchased from Goodwill. I really liked these pants, they were like new and were black, blue and white, great colors. I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be, but I felt like this was a quality product and would most likely sell, but for what? So I listed them in an auction for 7 days starting at $6.99 plus $4.99 shipping, they had 76 views, 8 bids, and sold for $10.50 plus $4.99 shipping for a total of $15.49.
TIP: The kid’s clothing at the Goodwill by me is $1.49 per item. $1.49 sounds like a very appealing price point, but most children’s clothing is worthless, so you have to be careful and choose the right pieces. The item that you select has to still sell for at least $10 to make a decent profit.

The total cost of my item including all selling and shipping fees was $7.12, my item sold for $15.49, so my profit was $8.37. Every year I buy my kids the parenting fun pass, the fun pass includes a dozen places that offer a buy one get one free or 1 free visit. The places range from amusement parks to bounce places. I would check with your local kid’s magazine and see if they offer something like this, for us the pass costs $10 and provides a year of inexpensive entertainment. So the $8.37 profit from these pants will pay for one admission to one of our museums and my other son will be free.
