I found these Adidas climalite golf pants at Goodwill for $4.55 including tax. I listed them in an auction for 7 days, my starting price was .99 plus $4.99 shipping, they had 53 views, 7 bids, and sold for $15.49 including shipping.
The reason why I started this auction at .99 was because when I was taking pictures of these pants I noticed that they had faint spots throughout, I did not see the imperfections while I was at the store, if I did I probably would not have bought them. I thought they were going to be worthless so I started the listing at .99 plus $4.99 because I didn’t think anyone was going to be interested, I was wrong. Not only did people not mind, and of course I showed and explained the spots, there were multiple bids and they sold for a good price, crazy. I am very torn between starting an auction at .99 or trying to protect the price and start the item at a price I am okay with selling it at. I beginning to feel like starting the auction at .99 is the way to go. I will have to test this a little more and I will let you know.
TIP: What I learned here is don’t be afraid of an imperfection, almost everything that I sell is in like new or in great condition, but if the brand and type of clothing is right and it has an imperfection I will buy it. As long as you clearly describe and picture the flaw(s) your item still will hold value to someone.

My total cost to buy and sell this item was $9.24, my item sold for $15.49 so I made $6.25.
TIP: Obviously it is not worth going to a thrift/consignment store to buy just one item it would not be worth your time and gas, so when I go I try to find 10-20 items and I usually do. When I first started I know I passed by a lot of items that were worth money, but I just didn’t know. Now that I know what sells it is easy to find enough items to make the trip worth it.
One of our parks has a merry go round, the park is so popular that a Sabrett hot dog guy sets up on the weekends. So the $6.25 profit from these pants will buy our hot dogs while we play at the park.
